CONFRONTATIONs

24 A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their sense and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.” 2 Timothy 2:24-26 NKJV

“ITS NOT WHAT YOU SAY, ITS HOW YOU SAY IT.”

It’s my college teacher’s most famous quotation to us during our college days. She always said that in whatever we say even if it’s the most hurtful things to say it can come out okay, just fine (and not as unpleasant as it is) depending on HOW we deliver it.

And as I grew in faith, this statement came popping out again. It came out on topics of biblical confrontation (Galatians 6:1-4), discipline, correcting/reproof (2 Corinthians 3:16-17), checking and balance and many other things.

This means that we can still stand on the gap without destroying that line between sin and righteousness. We can always say that iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). It does always mean be FIRM but it does not mean be authoritarian. It does not mean that you have to really assert or proclaim that you are right and you SHOULD be this and that. Instead you have to lead them in humility, towards the right path that they should go which leads to God. You have to talk to them in such as way that they themselves will decide to do that for themselves. Rebuke with love and let love take over. (Proverbs 27:5)

All of us has the CHOICE to choose what is right from wrong. The people around us can suggest but it always boils down to the choice we choose. In whatever situation we are in I do not believe we never have a choice. Because whatever we do whether we like it or not, we have decided on doing it ourselves. And we did it with our own choice.

So as the one giving the the advice, the correction, the mandate from the Lord how we deliver that instruction is ALWAYS OUR CHOICE.

It’s never what we say, it’s HOW WE SAY IT.
