“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”  Revelation 3:15-16

According to, Aedes aegypti mosquitos or the “Dengue Mosquito’s” eggs are laid on damp surfaces in areas likely to temporarily flood, such as tree holes and man-made containers like barrels, drums, jars, pots, buckets, flower vases, plant saucers, tanks, discarded bottles, tins, tyres, water cooler, etc. and a lot more places where rain-water collects or is stored.”

So basically these eggs are laid on a STAGNANT WATER. According to World Health Organization, these stagnant waters are pools of standing or slow-flowing water which provides a breeding ground for many insects, including mosquitoes that can transmit diseases.” So stagnant waters does not only breed mosquitoes but also other insects that can transmit diseases.

In the spiritual realm, we cannot afford to be stagnant. We cannot afford to NOT flow in God’s perfect will in our lives. Like the stagnant water where insects breed to bring disease, if we become stagnant we become water that attracts disease, sin. And waters that are stagnant will be thrown away in the ground. That is also with the Lord, if we do not abide in Him He will cut us off like a branch from a tree. For He only prunes what He sees has the capability and has chosen to grow and mature into something better than it is now.

Temptation comes when there is no feeding as stagnant water does not feed itself new waters, fresh waters. Feeding our spiritual needs, our hope, our faith with the Word of God, with prayer and with fellowship with fellow believers are what enables us to resist temptation but if we are not fed then our spirit will be hungry. And when our spirit is hungry it does not have the will power to resist temptation and so disease as in SIN will come in and feed us with sickness, lack and all sorts of discomfort.

John 15:4 ESV

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

Furthermore, stagnant water doesn’t move, therefore nothing comes in and goes out of it. A person who is stagnant does not let in correction, rebuke and God’s Word into his life nor does he let out things that are not of God. So a stagnant person does not grow. He does not allow change in his life; he is so caught up in what he is at the moment that he cannot see beyond what he is seeing now.

Ezekiel 47:9 ESV

And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.

Ezekiel 47:9 says that where the river is there is life and that everything will live where the river flows. We must then choose to be in the river of God where we are assured that we will thrive, where we will flow and be fed and receive fresh new things from God.  If we believe that we are in the stagnant waters, choose to move out of it, let God teach us and let God enter into our hearts and bring the river in. Because when we are in the river then God will bring abundance, increase, joy and everything God has promised. (Psalm 36:8)

“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”  Revelation 3:15-16

God knows us. He can recognize where we are at. He recognizes if we are cold or hot by what we produce in our words and actions. The fruit of what we really are can be seen in our character, our actions, our work and our lives and they are all visible to the Lord.  He knows when we are running stagnant or when we are flowing in His love. As the shepherd recognizes and knows his sheep (John 10:14) so the Lord also recognizes if we are truly for Him or not. So we cannot and must not choose to COLD or LUKEWARM because in God’s sight this would mean rebellion. And in rebellion He will spit us out and say “I do not know you”. (Luke 13:27)

Yet when we choose to remain in Him, to remain in His overflowing river of grace and mercy He promises to do great and exceedingly beyond all that we can ever see or imagine.

Ephesians 3:20 NASB

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

2 Corinthians 9:8 ESV

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
