NEVER GIVE UP!

Purpose and Destiny:

NEVER GIVE UP!

Romans 8:28 proclaims,

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (NIV).

A mountain climber said this,

“Climbing a mountain is the furthest thing from easy. Long stretches of constant vertical climbing can be the most exhausting and hardest thing you do. Not only the physical difficulties but also the mental difficulties will also test you… You will learn to never give up; to know that the reward will be worth the work it takes. It may take you several months, attempts and hours but you will take the time and you can achieve the climb. Once you make it you will realize what all the fuss is about.”

While another said

“Climbing captures the allure and mystery of life for me…. there is the challenge of taking a step on a steep slope knowing that a mistake could be deadly but the next step will be rewarding.”

Never give up! Persevere.

God knows what we are going through. God knows what to do but He will not stop us from moving forward, from moving upward. As the saying goes, “The teacher is quiet during the test”. We must not stop praising God because in the process we take a step closer to the peak where we really want to go, where God is waiting.

As for me, I have learned that the process is never that easy. Sometimes, you will feel happy and content and sometimes you feel bad and want to quit. When I passed the board exam (in 2014) we as a batch were half-hearted whether to rejoice or feel bad. We just finished a long way of reviewing and hard work. The waiting was excruciating. Then came the results.

We wanted to rejoice because we had 2 classmates who topped in the national examination and to be sad because one of us failed in the exam. Because of this experience, I came to a point to question why this happened. Why? Why her? She’s a Christian. She loves the Lord and she prays. And I thought surely God was on her side as He did with us who passed but why? What happened? Well this is the answer I got,

“God has a plan. He has a purpose for doing this. He wants to prove a point to her and to you her fellow believers. God wants to see her survive and move forward because despite it all God still holds the TRUMP card. He is still in control and this experience is going to make her stronger as a person and as a child of God” (May 07, 2014)

I believe she was placed in that situation where the Lord took her to a place where none of us could go. But as Romans 8:28 proclaims, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (NIV) I believe this experience worked out for good not just for her but also to us her fellow believers. To us who realized that God can take us to different roads yet still reach the same location. The RIGHT location.

STAY FOCUSED

Purpose and Destiny:

STAY FOCUSED

Colossians 3:1 ISV

Therefore, if you have been raised with the Messiah, keep focusing on the things that are above, where the Messiah is seated at the right hand of God.

We must not let anything else distract us for if we do we fall and fail. So stay focused and take courage from the Word of God. Arnette, who summited Everest on his fourth attempt in 2011 said this: Climbing a mountain “…brings into focus what’s important to you,” … “There are a thousand reasons to turn around and only one to keep going. You really have to focus on the one reason that’s most important and unique to you.

“It forces you to look deep inside yourself and figure out if you really have the … toughness to push when you want to stop,” he added. “When you come home, you realize you are able to face a wall and overcome that wall.”

There will be many as there are already many things that want to steal our focus in life. But as Paul’s letter to the Colossians says, if we have already claimed to have been redeemed and saved by the blood, we must know where to put our focus. We must know what our priority should be. We must focus on God.

Yes, there will be many walls, there will be many attacks and there will be many hurts but one thing we are assured of that greater is the suffering, the greater the reward and blessing from God. And as was testified even mountain climbers acknowledge this in their endeavor, they recognize that facing a wall and being able to overcome it is a great gain. All the pain and suffering you had to go through just to be able to overcome has been paid off when you reach your destination.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (New American Standard Bible)says that “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”

And God never wastes these experience, this temptation that we have overtaken. For in the test comes the testimony, in the mess comes the message. Out of this pain will come deliverance. Joseph himself said, “you meant evil against me but God meant it for good…” It may have happened for a wrong or bad purpose but God will turn that wrong beginning into a message and into a testimony that will glorify His name.

As part of my testimony, I believe this will speak out to those who had started wrong and thought it was enough. So before really having a deep relationship with God my motivation for living and fighting depression was because, as I said in my journal, “I do not want to be like her. I do not want to end up like her who let depression take over her life which made her kill herself and her unborn child” (dated April 18, 2016).

I have greatly grieved the death of this distant cousin but her life became my motivation. So whenever I felt depressed and unwanted and unloved, I remember her. I remembered how her life was wasted because of that thought of people despising her because of what she was going through. I thought of how selfish her decision was of taking her own life. And it made me rethink of the bad things I wanted to do myself.

But that was then.

My focus was on the wrong reasons. Now I know Jesus and what sacrifice He truly did for me on the cross and it became my motivation. And His Word assures me that I have a purpose, my life is here for a purpose and I have something to fulfill that no one else can fill the gap. I am unique and loved and is continually loved by God. So, I no longer have the right to take my life away nor waste it for it is no longer mine but His to use for His glory.

PURPOSE and DESTINY

December 11, 2016

Job 12:10 TEV

“It is God who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone’s life is in his power.”

We all have dreams in life, a purpose we want to accomplish.

We all want to accomplish something, to be someone great, to be better than we were yesterday.

When we were children we wanted to grow up FAST! Back when in elementary, we wanted to go to high school and meets new friends. Then in high school, we wanted to go to college and learn new things. When at last we were in college, we wanted to graduate and earn our own money.

But then sometimes in our own job, we somehow wish we could go back to going to school where we easily get money through our allowance. Life felt easy back then.

As for me, I always thought growing up and doing these things would go just naturally, a course of nature, a flow of natural events. YET through the years of learning more of my faith in God, I have realized that IT IS NOT THAT EASY. Getting there is NEVER that easy.

Take for example a mountain climber. I have recently watched the movie entitles “Everest”, the true-to-life-story 2015 movie about a guide and his crew as they face obstacles in their mission to climb and reach the peak of Mt. Everest.  In the movie, I saw and learned that a mountain climber sees his purpose is climbing the mountain at any cost. The climb is never that easy yet regardless of the obstacles, he does not put his goal aside until he reaches the peak of that mountain.7

A climber said this, reaching the top is “… like reaching a goal, achieving a dream and figuring out that you can do anything that you set your mind to.”

So what is our dream? What have we set our mind to do?

What is the purpose of our lives?

what have I been doing with my life? Have a lived a meaningful life? Or wasted opportunities in my life?

Let me read what Rick Warren said in his book The Purpose Driven Life about the purpose of life,

“The purpose of your life is greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by His purpose and for His purpose.”

So, before we can fully understand and be able to do the purpose for our lives, we should first understand that THESE THINGS START AND WILL BEGIN WITH GOD. EVERYTHING STARTS AND ENDS WITH GOD.

He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end of ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. (Revelations 1:8)

As the Bible says, Job 12:10 TEV

“It is God who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone’s life is in his power.”

ABOUND in LOVE

ABOUND IN LOVE

July 20, 2016 (Wednesday)

[Updated July 26, 2016]

“12And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13But he endures to the end shall be saved.” Matthew 24: 12-13 NKJV

This morning I was doing the inventory and while doing inventory I was also scanning parts of those books that I liked the title and/or author.(#Library things) The books I was able to scan was all about the end times, stories of prophecies and prophetic preaching on the end times. So that was when the pattern started.

And then in the afternoon, my internet connection was restored/ fixed after 2 days of no internet connection.(The wires for the internet was struck by lightning last Saturday.) When I opened YouTube the first video I saw was that of an end-time video collection. This was the second time for that day that I was faced with things about the end times.

The video was HARSH with all the bad things the enemy has done and is continually doing in the world. And another video was about a research institute that found/created an entry point at another dimension. I was not able to finish it but when I saw the next video I concluded that it was an opening to another dimension we do not know of. I don’t want to conclude but it might be a man-made gateway to something really bad.

After watching that I was very troubled and I felt my spirit was in an uproar.

While at the jeep (Philippines public transport), I still felt uneasy and I really wanted to read my Bible to encourage myself.  We have a Midweek Service at church and I was assigned as a back-up worshiper. So “This can’t be happening!”.

At this moment God made me realize that my heart was not prepared to watch those videos (and I forgot to pray over it before watching, SORRY LORD!) so it made my heart really troubled.

When I arrived at church, I read my Bible on verses to encourage me and calm me. I read Psalm 23, Psalm 30 and other Bible verses about joy (since our worship songs were about joy). And that was not enough, I still felt uneasy although it calmed me down a little. So I went on the balcony and spoke in tongues because I believe that he  who speaks in a tongue edifies himself (1 Corinthians 14: 4a New American Standard Bible) . So I declared on myself, I prayed for joy, for preparation, for peace, for calm spirit.

I needed to do that because I was going to minister in songs and I knew my heart has to be sanctified and prepared for worship OR ELSE I will not be a blessing to the Praise and Worship team but a burden. I did not want to be burden.

I continued reading the Bible and speaking in tongues while waiting for the service to start. So when the praise and worship started I was about ready. And I believe I was a partaker of that great move of God especially because I prepared more thoroughly because of what I felt a while back.

[NOTE for MYSELF:Now another challenge I have been struggling with is HUMILITY. Because I knew I was a partaker, I knew I was part and somehow the move of God was partly a response to my intercession. That was where humility comes in. I knew what I did, I knew what God was doing at that time and I also knew despite my efforts I CANNOT TAKE THE GLORY OF GOD FOR MYSELF. I had to give it all to God. (Ezekiel 36:22, Psalm 115:1) And that was my struggle. Because every time I remember that I was a partaker, my pride wants to step in and take the glory for myself. And so I had to constantly remind myself that it was NOT ME BUT GOD. I had to bring my focus out of my self-recognition and bring back my focus to God who I was singing praises to. And I know God will continually help me in this aspect of my life.]

After the worship, the opening verses were read and it was taken from Matthew 24: 4-13. And when I turned my Bible into it, the heading was “The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age”. WOW! I said to myself, I thought I was done with these things, I thought that was the end and that God was done with that topic for me for the day. But NO, GOD HAD MORE.

And God turned it around. Instead of that sharp and serious topic of the End of Age, it was a topic on LOVE. So all of that unsteadiness was after all a preparation for this word I was about to receive.

So.

Matthew 24:12 speaks of the LOVE that would grow cold in these last days.

For me, after all the end-time signs I watched where LGBT mock Christians, where they cheer and clap and laugh at Christian antics and teachings like it was nothing. I felt disheartened and so discouraged with these people. But after listening to the preaching, or more timely, while on the process of making this devotion God reminded me of LOVE. God reminded me that these people may not love me, may not deserve love in my perspective, and may not love God but because God loves them despite their actions I also have to show love as He did no matter what. (John 13:15) And I cannot say that I know and am striving to know more of God if  I do not show love because God Himself is love. (1 John 4:8)

So God said LOVE. Love especially those who do not deserve love. These people who blaspheme the Lord in their words and actions are still worthy of love. That I believe is what God wanted me to realize.

And Matthew 5: 43-44 says,

43” You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’  44 “But I (Jesus) say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.  NKJV

COVER UP?

COVER UP?

[The Story: July 18, 2016]

[Revelation added: July 20 & 22, 2016]

O God, You know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from You” Psalm 69: 5 ESV

Today at work, I was trying to fix the cover of a table since I tore the previous cover because it was already ruined. Although underneath that outer layer there was second layer that I just left there so that the students can still use it during the semester. I was just able to face fixing/ replacing that table cover since it was the semester break and I was not that busy and there were no students to disturb me nor use the table.

So here it goes.

The STORY

fabric-1237805_960_720.jpg

At first I tried to cover up the table with its old cover still in it. But as I was looking at the cover I used to cover the old layer. IT DID NOT LOOK GOOD. I could still see the old cover at the sides of the table and it was making the table look OLD even with its new cover.

The REVELATION

I had realized this as I was putting on the new layer but I ignored it because I thought it would be just fine.

That’s where I was wrong. There is nothing hidden in the side of the Lord. No matter how hard we try to cover it up. He knows it all. No matter how we try to cover it up with “good things”, if its foundation is wrong then it’s wrong. Or when the foundation is not stable, then nothing will work out. If it’s sin then it’s sin. There are no white lies, whatever lies are lies. No small, no big, no white, no black lies. ALL no matter how grave/severe they are all EQUALLY LIES.

So I decided to take off the new cover as well as the old cover. So I discovered that the table needed dusting because the old cover was already damaged on the inside.

After dusting, I layered it with new covers and topped it with Christian quotations and Bible verses I saw at the stock room.

To preserve the cover and the table I covered the table with plastic cover.

After all the hard work, I looked at my work and saw that it was good.

Nor do they put new wine into old wineskin, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9: 17 NKJV

The REVELATION

Like the table, no matter how many layers of cover I place in it if I had not removed and cleaned the innermost layer, the outer beautiful layers are useless. The outer layers will only be destroyed faster than it should last. The table is not preserved because it was not thoroughly cleaned from the very base.

Hello_Sin_IS_RECT.jpg

Sin. Hidden sin is still lurking around finding a way to make it even bigger than it should be spilling the beautiful wine and wasting it.

Old wineskin cannot carry new wine. Because when we become careless and lazy and just do this and that without thinking over it, or without laying first firm foundation on it. That wineskin will surely crumble. The new things we try to instill to others will not remain but will break because, we did not first lay the foundation. It will break because we did not yet replace the wineskin with a new one.

So be mindful. Correct first the wrong mindset with the right foundations so as to set the new wineskin. So when you input and help build up others, the wine you pour out will not be wasted.

Pour new wine in new wineskin. Start your building with good foundation.

24Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine (Jesus), and does them, I (Jesus) will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 “and the rain descended, the flood came; and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock” Matthew 7:24-25 NKJV

CONFRONTATIONS

July 18, 2016

CONFRONTATIONs

24 A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their sense and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.” 2 Timothy 2:24-26 NKJV

“ITS NOT WHAT YOU SAY, ITS HOW YOU SAY IT.”

It’s my college teacher’s most famous quotation to us during our college days. She always said that in whatever we say even if it’s the most hurtful things to say it can come out okay, just fine (and not as unpleasant as it is) depending on HOW we deliver it.

And as I grew in faith, this statement came popping out again. It came out on topics of biblical confrontation (Galatians 6:1-4), discipline, correcting/reproof (2 Corinthians 3:16-17), checking and balance and many other things.

This means that we can still stand on the gap without destroying that line between sin and righteousness. We can always say that iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). It does always mean be FIRM but it does not mean be authoritarian. It does not mean that you have to really assert or proclaim that you are right and you SHOULD be this and that. Instead you have to lead them in humility, towards the right path that they should go which leads to God. You have to talk to them in such as way that they themselves will decide to do that for themselves. Rebuke with love and let love take over. (Proverbs 27:5)

All of us has the CHOICE to choose what is right from wrong. The people around us can suggest but it always boils down to the choice we choose. In whatever situation we are in I do not believe we never have a choice. Because whatever we do whether we like it or not, we have decided on doing it ourselves. And we did it with our own choice.

So as the one giving the the advice, the correction, the mandate from the Lord how we deliver that instruction is ALWAYS OUR CHOICE.

It’s never what we say, it’s HOW WE SAY IT.

FAITH-HELPERS

June 29, 2016 (Wednesday)

Updated: July 7, 2016

Last Saturday I climbed one of the mango trees near our house to get some fruits. There were a lot of obstacles before I could get the fruit, but it was worth it.

First I had to get through the (circular home-made) chicken coop my mother placed between the branches on the trunk of the tree. My mother placed a chicken coop on the entrance of the tree because some of our neighbor kids would go their and get mangoes without our permission.

-This represents the first hand obstacles we face when we first decided to live our lives for the Lord. Before we could even get to the tree towards the fruit we want to get, we have to get through the obstacles of fear and doubt of even getting in with God, of low self-esteem, of feeling unworthy, and so on. Without getting through it, there is no going ahead. THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS TO BLESSINGS.

-The revelation for me for this is that if you will not put fence on what is yours someone will come and steal it when you’re not looking. If you let your guard down, if you forgot to put on the FULL armor of God the enemy who is always watching will come and steal away what you have until you lose all your armor. (John 10:10; 1 Peter 5:8) You become a prey.  So put on the full armor of God so we are able to STAND FIRM against the strategies of the enemy. (Ephesians 6:11)

When I got through the chicken coop, I had to find my way around the branches to find where the fruits were because all the fruit that within hands reach were already harvested by me and my companions at home before that day.

-There are things we can easily reach and get, do and achieve then it’s all done but there are things that’s hard to get, things that are not on within sight. Like for example, our degree we can simply study and then graduate to get a degree but our relationship with Lord is much deeper. Before we can build a relationship with God, we first have to dig deep because some things that are of God are not easily revealed to anyone. (Psalm 25:14) You have to have first RELATIONSHIP with God to know the things of God.

-We must guard our hearts, put also a “chicken coop” in it so not just anyone can come in, so no one can steal the seed that the Lord has planted in you. Place a barrier that would guard you against the enemy.

-ONLY THE STRONG can climb the tree. If you are weak, you cannot climb into the blessings God has planned for you. Strive to be strong in the Lord so that when these obstacles come your way, you are ready to receive it. This is because you cannot grow and bear fruit if you are not strong in the Lord. If you do not stand firm on His Word and you let yourself be swayed easily, the foundations you have built will fall apart. Then you have to begin again at the very beginning.

And though I found where that fruits were, I can’t easily get it because I can’t reach it by hand. So I would need a fruit-catcher to help me get to the fruit.

-As one of my friends pointed out (since I couldn’t find the word to describe it), that is when FAITH HELPERS come in. They help us get the fruits we want to see in our lives. Our pastors and leaders, our friends, the Word and the Holy Spirit are our faith-helpers. They help us get to where God wants us to be at and BE who God wants us to be.

The fruit-catcher I had had net on it that serves as its collection bag so that the fruit would not fall to the ground. I also had a “sako”(sack) bag with me to put all the fruits I have harvested so I could get as many fruits as I want. The fruit-catcher’s collection bag collects multiple times and places all its harvest on the “sako” (sack) bag.

-The fruit-catcher and the “sako” (sack) bag serve as WINESKIN. (Matthew 9:17) They serve as the wineskin by which we put all we have received from God. Without these two, the fruit we have harvested will fall and crack, it will be a wasted. A wasted fruit. It things we received are not taken care of they become nothing more like a rotten fruit. For it to be preserved and used in accordance to its use we must PROTECT and BE ON GUARD on what we receive. Or else the enemy will steal it away from us. (John 10:10)

So be on guard. (1 Corinthians 16:13)

“REGISTRATION”

June 7, 2016 (Tuesday)

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” (Proverbs 27:17 NLT)

When a group of people work together for the first time to do for the first time a certain task certain things are sure to arise. Yet I believe despite those certain things, if our goal is but one ALL can be resolved in a manner worth all the efforts exerted by all involved.

And it did and it will.

There were some things that needed to be improved and worked with but it worked out well. Well the word of the day for us was “REGISTRATION”. It was because whatever we talked about it all boils down to REGISTRATION, the very beginning.

It’s really true that whatever things we do if it begins unplanned and done in a rush, the rest can simply history unwanted. Yet sometimes its unavoidable. We make mistakes, we skip this and that, we forget and we sometimes get tired. Yet that is NOT the end. We talk and make amends, we resolve things.  WE DO SOMETHING.

And ALL THINGS WORKED together for good.

Life begins with a STEP. Unless we make a step we are not making life. And when we do make a step yet we stumble, LEARN to STAND because our fall is not the end of the story. There are more up ahead.

LEARN. DO.
