[The Story: July 18, 2016]

[Revelation added: July 20 & 22, 2016]

O God, You know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from You” Psalm 69: 5 ESV

Today at work, I was trying to fix the cover of a table since I tore the previous cover because it was already ruined. Although underneath that outer layer there was second layer that I just left there so that the students can still use it during the semester. I was just able to face fixing/ replacing that table cover since it was the semester break and I was not that busy and there were no students to disturb me nor use the table.

So here it goes.

At first I tried to cover up the table with its old cover still in it. But as I was looking at the cover I used to cover the old layer. IT DID NOT LOOK GOOD. I could still see the old cover at the sides of the table and it was making the table look OLD even with its new cover.

I had realized this as I was putting on the new layer but I ignored it because I thought it would be just fine.

That’s where I was wrong. There is nothing hidden in the side of the Lord. No matter how hard we try to cover it up. He knows it all. No matter how we try to cover it up with “good things”, if its foundation is wrong then it’s wrong. Or when the foundation is not stable, then nothing will work out. If it’s sin then it’s sin. There are no white lies, whatever lies are lies. No small, no big, no white, no black lies. ALL no matter how grave/severe they are all EQUALLY LIES.

So I decided to take off the new cover as well as the old cover. So I discovered that the table needed dusting because the old cover was already damaged on the inside.

After dusting, I layered it with new covers and topped it with Christian quotations and Bible verses I saw at the stock room.

To preserve the cover and the table I covered the table with plastic cover.

After all the hard work, I looked at my work and saw that it was good.

Nor do they put new wine into old wineskin, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9: 17 NKJV

Like the table, no matter how many layers of cover I place in it if I had not removed and cleaned the innermost layer, the outer beautiful layers are useless. The outer layers will only be destroyed faster than it should last. The table is not preserved because it was not thoroughly cleaned from the very base.

Sin. Hidden sin is still lurking around finding a way to make it even bigger than it should be spilling the beautiful wine and wasting it.

Old wineskin cannot carry new wine. Because when we become careless and lazy and just do this and that without thinking over it, or without laying first firm foundation on it. That wineskin will surely crumble. The new things we try to instill to others will not remain but will break because, we did not first lay the foundation. It will break because we did not yet replace the wineskin with a new one.

So be mindful. Correct first the wrong mindset with the right foundations so as to set the new wineskin. So when you input and help build up others, the wine you pour out will not be wasted.

Pour new wine in new wineskin. Start your building with good foundation.

24Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine (Jesus), and does them, I (Jesus) will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 “and the rain descended, the flood came; and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock” Matthew 7:24-25 NKJV

[Topic perceived through the Midweek Service 6-8PM today delivered through Ps. Jun Perez]

John 17:11-13 NKJV
“11Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. 12 “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave I have kept, and none of them lost except the one of perdition that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 “But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in them.”

When Jesus was about to be betrayed, He prayed this to the Father. Jesus prayed for His disciples whom God has given Him to disciple to be UNITED as He was about to go back to the Father in a little while.  He declared unity to them as He knew He and the Father are united.

We are the Body of Christ yet are each a member individually. (1 Corinthians 12:27) And though ONE BODY we are of different parts and different functions. (Romans 12:4) Though we are one body, we all have different unique abilities, gifts and talents yet with these different things God made us united towards ONE common goal- to worship and bring glory to His name. As one body, we cannot fully function without the others. We become incomplete and worthless without one another.

It’s like this house floating through a number of balloons like the movie “Up”. If on the sky, the birds would pop some of the balloons that house has the possibility of falling down. Or if the wrong balloons are popped or the winds take come and blow some away, the house might slant and destroy what’s inside the house because of its imbalance.

We are like these balloons, if we don’t stay united, the birds, the winds would come and we would struggle and fall. We will not be able to reach the destination we want to reach; we will not reach the goal we want to accomplish if we are dis-united.

We need teamwork. And we cannot have teamwork if we are not members of any team. So we should find the right team where we can join in and be accepted and treated with respect and humility.

Find a ministry where we can serve and function as one unique part of the body.(1 Corinthians 12:27)

[Taken from Late Morning (10:30-12:30nn) Service sermon entitled POWER OF CHANGE delivered by Ps. Ana Karen Perez]

A man had a two-story house.

One day he heard a knocking, he opened the door and found Jesus.

And so he invited Him in to live in his house.

He gave him a room in the top floor.

No minding each other Lord. You stay there in the top floor, I stay here below. As long as you are in my house. BUT stay and stay put there at the top floor, Lord.

[Walang pakialaman bahay ko ito. Diyan ka sa taas, dito ako sa baba. Basta nandito ka sa bahay ko. PERO hanggang diyan ka lang Lord sa itaas.]

And  so at nightfall as the man was sleeping, he heard a pounding on the door. He opened the door and the devil barged in. (Sinunggaban siya ng Dyablo) He had a terrible fight trying to resist the devil and his temptation, yelling out for help all the time.

But eventually he managed to throw the devil out.

So in the morning, he asked the Lord, “Why didn’t you help me last night Lord? Couldn’t you hear me calling for help?”

Jesus said, “The problem is you’ve got this whole big house to yourself and I’ve got only one room”.

In all of this big house, you just entrusted me ONE room while you had all the rest. You placed me on top, no minding each other you said. And so I didn’t mind you when you needed help. That was your space.

[“Sa buong bahay isa lang na kwarto and nakalaan sa Diyos. Nilagay mo ako sa ituktok, WALANG PAKIALAMAN sabe mo. Ede hindi kita pinakialaman.” Sabe ni Hesus]

“Ahh! I see your point Lord. Now you can have the whole floor, top floor and the main floor BUT the bottom (basement) is mine”, said the man.

Those things that are not seen by others. Your small simple and hidden things.

[Yung hindi nakikita]

And  so at nightfall as the man was sleeping, he heard a pounding on the door. He opened the door and the devil barged in AGAIN. (Sinunggaban ulit siya ng Dyablo) He had a terrible fight trying to resist the devil and his temptation, yelling out for help all the time ALL THE TIME.

No help came still. But eventually he managed to throw the devil out.

He was able to drive away the devil but because he still had things hidden from God, God couldn’t help him. Thought he has able to throw away the enemy, he kept coming back. He became a REGULAR visitor with the same tactics and antics as he did the first time he barged. Temptation and Sin.

[Napapalayas pero bumabalik, REGULAR]

So in the morning, he asked the Lord, “Why didn’t you help me last night Lord? Couldn’t you hear me calling for help?”

Jesus said, “The problem is I have the top floor and the main floor but you still have the bottom floor”.

Though he surrendered most of his house to the Lord, he still left something out. And in that something, the man’s will still prevailed over God’s.

[Ikaw parin ang nasusunod]

“Ahh! I see what you mean”, the man said.  “Now you can have the WHOLE HOUSE, from top to bottom is YOURS.”

Not until we surrender what we hold dear, until we still leave something for ourselves, even if that’s just a small thing, until we still have the lead of things in our lives, the enemy will keep coming back for more.

[Hanggat ikaw ay may hinahawakan, hanggang tinitira ka pa sayo, kahit maliit na bagay lang, hanggat ikaw ang nasusunod ay may bumabalik, bumabalik and Dyablo]

After that, the man was asleep. Then there was a pounding at the door again.

This time Jesus went to the door, opened it wide and stood at the doorway. And the devil looked at Him. The devil said, “I’m sorry but I think I knocked on the wrong door.”

When we let Jesus take the lead, we no longer need to face the devil in his temptation because Jesus will stand on the gap and fight the enemy Himself.

1 Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Vision-Matters-2012-Cover[Taken from Devotion on May 1, 2014]

Updated: July 11, 2016 (Monday)

Proverbs 29:18 ESV Where there is no prophetic vision people cast off restraint, But blessed is he who keeps the law.

Where there is no vision, the people perish.

I was reading an eBook [sorry I don’t remember the title:-(] where a couple had to decide what to do in their lives for the future. Before meeting each other, they both had different dreams, different visions in mind. But when they met God (when they had an encounter with God), God proved to them how different their dreams separately meant unless God allows it to happen. They had visions but they had the WRONG vision in mind, they had the wrong SOURCE of hope.

Like these people before giving myself to the Lord acknowledging that the Lord is my Lord and Savior I also had the wrong visions, the wrong beliefs, the wrong source of encouragement for myself. My actions used to be based on what others would think of me in what I would do. I used to strive to really please everybody. I used to stay in the background and simply agree with everybody even if sometimes I knew they were wrong. When I hear people talk about an issue or idea and I have no set opinion of that thought, I would adapt it as my own belief. I was one who just goes with the flow and I thought I was doing it right. (Proverbs 14:12)

But God.

But God rescued me and set me free from that environment and that mindset. God has started me on the right path (Psalm 15:11) and is continually guiding me towards the right direction. He showed me that only through Him can I have hope, only in Him can I find the right vision. (1 Corinthians 15:57; Colossians 1:27)

I believe I am still a working progress and I know  I AM REDEEMED BY THE BLOOD. (Ephesians 1:7) I know who and where I can find the RIGHT direction, RIGHT environment and RIGHT mindset. I have the Word of God: the Bible to guide me (Joshua 1:8), I have my mentors in faith who will direct and teach me what I need to grow (Romans 10:17) and I have my friends who will encourage me (Romans 1:12.

If God is able to do this to me, how can He not do it also to those who are lost. He will find a way to bring the lost back to Him, to bring back the prodigal to his Father.

“For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.” Matthew 18:11

800 years ago, the people of Pisa in Italy pisadecided to build a tower. The tower was to have bells that would ring out to the surrounding countryside as witness to the glory of God.

Things began to go wrong almost at once. After three stories had been completed, the tower developed an ominous lean to the north. Construction stopped for about 100 years. Then four more stories were added, built at an angle to shift the weight away from the tilt. But this caused the tower to begin to lean the other way.

Countless architects persisted with the curious structure for another century, trying to compensate for the ever-increasing tilt. The result was that the tower not only continued to lean, but took on a slight curve, like a banana.

The last story was added in 1372. Since then, generations of engineers have tried in vain to save the tower from its slow demise. World War II dictator Benito Mussolini ordered it to be straightened by adding hundreds of tons of concrete to the base. it only made matters worse.

The problem is the foundation. The tower is built on weak, unstable subsoil that could not support its weight. Sooner or later the tower will topple, although modern engineers have added 800 tons of lead to the base, perhaps stabilizing it for another 300 years.

Let’s hope so, because it is one of the world’s architectural treasures. But sadly, most people who see it don’t think of it as a building dedicated to reflect the glory of God.

Right Idea… Wrong Foundation. Grace Communion International (2016). Retrieved July 4,       2016, from

How I found this article:

I was searching the internet for stories which I can relate to FOUNDATION when I found this article on the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

What’s a FOUNDATION? When building a house, you FIRST have to build the foundation, right? So when there is an earthquake, what does it first hit? Is it not the foundation? This implies that we must be careful on where we put our foundation.

Foundation is important because everything else that is built with it will depend on its foundation for support. If the foundation is RIGHT then whatever you build in it will be right but if the foundation is wrong then whatever you build on it will never be prospered, whatever you build on it will easily stumble.

We must lay our foundation to Jesus because the Bible says,

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11(New International Version)

The TRUE foundation, that which cannot be shaken by anything is that of the foundation laid by JESUS.

” … Jacob begot Judah and his brothers. ” Matthew 1:2 (NKJV)

“And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ. (16)” Matthew 1:16 (NKJV)

This came to me while reading the Bible during our prayer meeting. I believe as it was taught me that prayer always starts and must be supported by the Word of God. As the Bible says in 1 John 5:14,  “If we ask anything according to his will he hears us” and clearly HIS WILL is written in the Book of Life, the FINAL AUTHORITY in our lives.

I have always wondered why the Lord chose Judah over Joseph as the ancestor of the one called to be our Savior. Well this thought came to me since Joseph was the one who had the favor of the Lord and the one who stood by God despite of all the things he had to go through. And most importantly Joseph was the one who rescued his family from the famine that overtook the whole of  Canaan and Egypt. Joseph was their FAMILY REDEEMER as Boaz was Ruth’s.

[“May the Lord bless him!” Naomi told her daughter-in-law. “He is showing his kindness to us as well as to your dead husband. That man is one of our closest relatives, one of our family redeemers.” Ruth 2:20 (NLT)]

As I read Matthew it became clear to me that though Joseph of Genesis was not chosen to be the ancestor of Jesus, God had other plans for another Joseph in the New Testament. God chose Joseph, the son of a Jacob, a descendant of Judah, as the father figure of Jesus. And Jacob acknowledged and recognized his ancestors’ FAMILY REDEEMER by naming his son Joseph.

As we read along, we can God used Joseph to look after Jesus before His ministry started.

So we see that all things still worked together according to God’s will (Romans 8:28). And AJA! (at last!), my curiosity was met.
